Elderly man shoves customer in Fla. Walmart checkout line

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – Two men were involved in a skirmish at the check-out line of a Florida Walmart when one brought more than 20 items into the express lane, reports CBS affiliate WDBJ.

William E. Golladay, 77, has been charged for allegedly attacking John L. Malherbe, 65, at a Walmart in Punta Gorda this past weekend.

The incident reportedly started when Golladay noticed that Malherbe had exceeded the 20-item limit for the express lane. Malherbe told police that Golladay started counting his items as he checked them out.

When the total tally was above 20, Golladay started yelling and shoved Malherbe with his own shopping cart, according to police. He was then escorted outside by Walmart employees.

However, Golladay later returned and confronted Malherbe with raised fists, resulting in store employees having to again remove him from the store.

Golladay now faces felony battery charges, police said.
