PARAMOUNT, Calif. (CBS/KCAL) It wasn't supposed to end this way for 20-year-old Edwinta Hereford. Her nude body was discovered on Interstate 105 in Paramount, Calif. on Sunday.

Police believe she was pushed from a moving car, according to the LA Times, but they were not sure if she had been killed elsewhere and dumped on the road or if she died from being thrown from the vehicle.

An autopsy is pending to determine the cause of death, Assistant Chief Ed Winter of the coroner's office told CBS affiliate KCAL.

The California Highway Patrol received a call Sunday at around 5:40 a.m. of a person down on Interstate 105 in southeast Los Angeles County. Upon their arrival, they found Hereford's body lying in the emergency lane of the freeway, Lt. Don Slawson told KCAL.

Police confirmed her identity on Monday.

Anyone with more information on Hereford's death is asked to contact the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
