Gillespie is co-chairman of Quinn Gillespie and Associates, a powerful Washington lobbying firm whose clients include AT&T, Daimler Chrysler, Sony, Tyson, and Verizon.
He's chairman of the Virginia Republican Party—having already served as Chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC) during President Bush's re-election campaign.
He also served President Bush as a confirmation adviser to Supreme Court Justices John Roberts and Samuel Alito, as Communications Director of the 2001 inaugural, and as a senior communications adviser during the 2000 campaign.
He was general strategist to Sen. Elizabeth Dole's (R-NC) campaign in 2002.
Prior to that, he was Director of Communications and Congressional Affairs at the RNC under then Chairman, now MS Gov. Haley Barbour, and worked for more than a decade for former House Majority Leader Dick Armey (R-TX). He also helped draft the Republicans' famous Contract With America in 1994.
