E-mails Flood Into Congress

(CBS/AP)
Members of Congress have been getting so many e-mails that the Web site of the House of Representatives may have become slow or unresponsive, the Associated Press reports.

Capitol Hill technical support warned Thursday that the House web site may be negatively affected because of a large influx of emails, according to the AP.

Members of Congress are now in their August recess and holding town hall meetings on health care reform. Groups on both sides of the health care reform debate have mobilized supporters to pressure lawmakers in an attempt to influence their vote on health care legislation.

"It is clearly health care reform" that is prompting the e-mail traffic, Jeff Ventura, a spokesman for the House's chief administrative officer, told the AP. "There's no doubt about it."
