Dustin Hoffman treated for cancer

A representative for Dustin Hoffman says the 75-year-old actor has been successfully treated for cancer.

"It was detected early and he has been surgically cured," the rep, Jodi Gottlieb, told People on Tuesday. "Dustin is feeling great and is in good health."

The actor/director will undergo doctor-recommended preventative treatments to minimize the chance of a recurrence in years to come, People reports.

Gottlieb did not disclose any more information about Hoffman's cancer or treatments.

Hoffman, who made his directorial debut last year with the film "Quartet," recently wrapped production on Jon Favreau's "Chef."
