Ducklings, 11 of 'em, rescued from Ky. storm drain as momma duck looks on

(CBS/AP) LEXINGTON, Ky. - Police, road crews and animal control all came to the rescue when 11 ducklings fell through the grates of a Lexington storm drain in what turned into a four-hour mission on Monday.

The drain in an office park became the focal point when workers spotted a duck under a parked truck.

"I said there's a duck under your truck! The duck was there because her babies were in the storm drain," office worker Betty Sophin told CBS affiliate WKYT.

Beneath the mother duckling sat 11 stranded ducklings.

"We had three police cars, animal control and then streets and roads came. Everyone worked together to get them out," Sophin said.

One by one, the mother got all her ducks in a row after they'd been pulled to safety.
