Drug Czar Announcement Coming Today
CBS News confirms Vice President Joe Biden will announce the selection of Seattle police chief Gil Kerlikowske as the administration's drug czar, reports CBS News White House correspondent Mark Knoller.
Kerlikowske's nomination, which is subject to Senate confirmation, has been expected for a few weeks now, but won't be official until the vice president makes the announcement at a midday ceremony at the Executive Office building next to the White House.
Update: Knoller reports that the White House is denying reports that there was a delay in announcing Kerlikowske's nomination because his stepson has an arrest record on drug charges. An official says Kerlikowske will even address that issue in his remarks at the announcement with Biden.
