Donald Glover cast as young Lando Calrissian for Han Solo movie

The young Han Solo film has found its Lando.

“Community” and “Atlanta” star Donald Glover has signed on to play young Lando Calrissian in the untilted “Star Wars” anthology film focusing on the young life of Han Solo, played by Alden Ehrenreich, Lucasfilm announced Friday.

Calrissian, originally played by Billy Dee Williams, first appeared in “The Empire Strikes Back” and helped destroy the second Death Star in “The Return of the Jedi.”

“We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us,” co-directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller said in a statement. “These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations.”

“Also, we’d like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever.”

The stand-alone film, set years before 1977’s “Star Wars: A New Hope,” will feature Solo and Calrissian in their formative years as scoundrels “on the rise in the galaxy’s underworld.”

The untitled Han Solo movie is set for release in 2018.
