Do snacks right: These have 80 calories or fewer

Almost everybody loves to snack. But overindulging is a real problem.

According to a new study by the International Food Information Council, only 9 percent of Americans track the calories they eat every day.

But there are many delicious, satisfying snacks that are way down on the calorie scale, Health magazine Senior Food and Nutrition Editor Frances Largeman-Roth pointed out on "The Early Show on Saturday Morning."

These all contain 80 calories or fewer:

HALF SOUR PICKLE (5 CALORIES EACH)

This low-cal crunchy and cold treat will satisfy your craving for something salty. Better to leave those kettle-cooked potato chips at home, and grab a jar of fresh pickles! Just be careful - these little snacks pack a big sodium punch, so watch how many you eat at one sitting.

CORONITA LIGHT BEER (43 CALORIES EACH)

There is no better way to celebrate the end of a long week than at Happy Hour with friends. Instead of ordering a fruity and sweet Sex on The Beach that is LOADED with sugar (and extra calories), sip a Coronita Light with a wedge of lime. These smaller-sized bottles (7 oz. to be exact) pack almost 50% fewer calories than one bottle of the typical light beer and are loaded with flavor. Cheers to that!

MALLOWMAR (60 CALORIES EACH)

Ever since 1913, these marshmallow-stuffed cookies fly off store shelves due to their seasonal availability...with good reason! Produced by Nabisco from October through April, Mallowmar fans stock up during the winter months to satisfy their cravings. You may want to stick eating one at a time - since each Mallowmar has 60 calories each.

4 CUCUMBER CUPS WITH HUMMUS (19 CALORIES EACH; 4 CUPS: 76 CALORIES)

Try a few of these cucumber cups when you're hungry after work or between meals: cut 4 (one inch thick) cucumber slices and remove the seeds to make a cup. Fill with your favorite hummus brand - we like Tribe All-Natural Hummus with Horseradish - the cool, crisp flavor of the cucumber is the perfect compliment to the creamy bite of the hummus. 4 cups will only set you back about 76 calories.

CORAZONAS PARMESAN PEPPERCORN POTATO CHIPS (8 ¾ CALORIES EACH; 8 CHIPS: 70 CALORIES)

There is no better way to get a ton of flavor without a ton of calories than to snack on a low-fat potato chip. What we like about Corazonas Parmesan Peppercorn Potato Chips is that you're not sacrificing the flavor. 8 chips will set you back about 70 calories - this kind of snack is great for those of us who can't eat just one of anything!

SMOKED SALMON BAGEL BITE (78 CALORIES)

Who doesn't love a bagel for breakfast to get a head start on your day? If you're watching calories and craving this convenient breakfast, try topping 1/2 a Thomas' 100% Whole Wheat Bagel Thin with 3/4 tablespoons Philadelphia Light Smoked Salmon Cream Cheese - we promise you won't miss the extra bulk of the bagel.

18 ALEXIA SPICY SWEET POTATO JULIENNE FRIES (4.3 CALORIES EACH; 18 FRIES: 78 CALORIES)

It's no secret that everyone loves a good French fry. If you're trying to slim down and tone up in time for bathing suit season, better make your choice count. We love Alexia Spicy Sweet Potato Julienne Fries - they combine the sweet and savory flavor of the traditional sweet potato with spicy chipotle seasoning that packs tremendous flavor. You can have 18 fries and consume only 78 calories.

GRILLED CORN WITH FETA CHEESE (78 CALORIES)

Grilled corn on the cob is a summer barbeque staple, but you could also be consuming hidden calories if those kernels are drowning in butter. Bust those calories with our healthy and flavorful take on grilled corn on the cob: top 1/2 a medium ear grilled corn with ½ teaspoon olive oil, 1 teaspoon lime juice, and a dash of cayenne pepper. This updated picnic favorite will set you back only 78 calories - leaving plenty of room for dessert.
