Discover App Turns Your iPhone Into a Wireless Flash Drive
Need a quick and easy way to copy some documents to your iPhone before you hit the road? Discover turns your iPhone into a flash drive, and a wireless one at that [iTunes link].
You can see all about it (Get it? See all about it?) in the following video, which is Mac-centric but still informative for Windows users.
Here's how ridiculously simple this app is to use: I installed it on my iPhone, ran it, and then typed the provided URL into Firefox on my PC. Presto: an Explorer-like interface with Private and Public folders -- located on the iPhone!
Next, I clicked the Add Files button, selected a PDF containing the intinerary for an upcoming trip, and then clicked Upload All. In a matter of seconds, the file moved magically (and wirelessly) to my iPhone.
The Discover app doubles as a file viewer, able to open not only PDFs, but also all manner of Office documents, photos, videos, and more.
In short, it's a seriously handy app, and you can't beat the price: Discover is free. It's compatible with the iPhone and iPod Touch and requires OS 2.0 or later.
By the way, if this sounds familiar, you may be thinking of the Air Sharing app, which is similar -- but costs $4.99.
