Dingell Supporters Tout Obama, Clintons, Pelosi

Supporters of Energy and Commerce Chairman John D. Dingell (D-Mich.) are invoking President-elect Barack Obama and other prominent Democrats to rally support for the Dean of the House.

A quartet of top Dingell supporters sent colleagues a letter on Wednesday touting quotes from Obama, former President Bill Clinton, his wife, New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Georgia Rep. John Lewis and Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) praising the Energy and Commerce chairman. (Nevermind, for the moment, that Dingell and Pelosi have had a very public rivalry over the years.)

Dingell is trying to fend off a challenge from California Rep. Henry A. Waxman (whose fomer top aide now represents Obama on Capitol Hill).
