Did Sen. Martinez's Nod Help McCain?

Did Sen. Mel Martinez's endorsement help Sen. John McCain win Florida?

Martinez, (R-Fla.) thinks he may have played a role. The raw numbers from primary night speak for themselves, said Ken Lundberg, a Martinez spokesman.

In Miami-Dade County, where Martinez has some sway in the large Cuban-American community, McCain garnered 75,000 votes. Former Gov. Mitt Romney drew 23,000 votes in the county. Statewide, McCain beat Romney by 96,000 votes, primary results show, and 52,000 of those votes came from Miami-Dade.

"Sen. Martinez said he'd only get involved if he could make a difference in the race," said Ken Lundberg, Martinez's spokesman. "When you look at Miami-Dade, that was a big difference."
