Deserving Mom Gets Mother's Day Makeover

In anticipation of Mother's Day this weekend, "The Early Show" wanted to honor a deserving mother with a complete makeover. We searched and found Hildi Todrin, a mother who has gone above and beyond for her loving family.

Hildi Todrin nearly lost her daughter, Maya at birth. The mother-to-be suffered a rare placenta abruption. Maya wasn't breathing for the first six minutes of her life. Doctors said her outlook was bleak.

At just 4-days-old, Hildi and her husband, David, took Maya off life support.

However, despite extensive brain and organ damage, Maya defied the odds and lived.

For the last 11 years Hildi has guided her daughter through the developmental challenges. Just walking required years of physical therapy, leg braces and surgery.

Today Maya has surpassed everyone's expectations, and David says they have Hildi to thank for all of it.

David told CBS News, "Hildi was always there pushing for Maya, fighting for Maya, and Maya is who she is today because of that."

And in what little spare time Hildi has, she's managed to create a wedding photography business, a huge help to the family's income.

Despite Maya's raving reviews, her family thinks she deserves some extra time dedicated just to her on this Mother's Day.

David said, "I can't really think of anyone I know that deserves some pampering and time just for her than Hildi."

So "The Early Show" sent Hildi off to Joel Warren, of the Warren-Tricomi salon, and "Early Show" Style Contributor, Katrina Szish -- our "Glam Squad" -- for an entirely new look.
