Dennis Hopper Remembered by Celebs Via Twitter
NEW YORK (CBS) Hollywood stars took to Twitter to express their condolences over the recent death of filmmaker Dennis Hopper, who died in his home in Venice, California at age 74.
Actress Marlee Matlin alludes to the director's landmark 1969 film "Easy Rider" tweeting: "Dennis Hopper, riding that chopper, riding easy. God Speed, Dennis. RIP."
Rapper Ice T who starred in the 1988 Dennis Hopper-directed film "Colors" tweets: "One of my favorite people... Damn... Gotta watch 'Blue Velvet' one of the illest flicks ever. R.I.P."
Actress Christina Applegate shares with her twitter followers: "Sweet Dennis Hopper. Bless you for your gifts you gave us all these years."
Comedian Marlon Wayans tweets: "RIP to another LEGEND Dennis Hopper a great actor, great director and a brilliant artist. Your work will live on as will ur spirit."
Former Guns 'N' Roses guitarist Slash writes: "You take the great ones for granted until they're gone. RIP Dennis Hopper."
Comedian Tom Green chose to quote a remark Hopper made in an interview: "Somewhere in my strange career, someone has liked something."
R.I.P. tweets also came in from cyclist Lance Armstrong, English actor Simon Pegg who shared a quote from Hopper in the 1979 film "Apocalypse Now" and movie critic Roger Ebert who humorously referenced the filmmaker's Kansas origins.
"Dennis Hopper was born in Dodge City," tweeted Ebert, "and man, did he ever get out of Dodge."
