Dems question Romney's readiness to be president
(CBS News) As Mitt Romney's trip overseas has not been without perceived blunders, Democrats took to the Sunday morning television to question if he's prepared to be president and commander-in-chief.
On CBS News' "Face the Nation," chair of the Democratic Party, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., said Mitt Romney's diplomatic skills are a cause for concern.
"I think he's demonstrated pretty repeatedly since he's been out of the country that he lacks the experience, he lacks the preparation, and the diplomatic skills to be able to be the commander-in-chief, to be able to be the president of the United States," Wasserman Schultz said Sunday.
Wasserman Schultz is referring to comments Romney made during an interview with NBC News in London prior to the start of the Olympics that he was concerned that the British might not be ready for the Olympic Games amid a possible security shortage and a possible labor strike. He also said, while in London, that he met with the British Intelligence Agency, M-16.
"Mitt Romney wondered aloud whether London was ready for the Olympics, and I think it's clear that voters in this country wonder aloud whether Mitt Romney is ready for the world, and I think the world is not yet ready for Mitt Romney," President Obama's senior campaign adviser Robert Gibbs said on ABC News' "This Week."

Mr. Obama's two surrogates also seized on comments made by Romney adviser Dan Senor Sunday, who told reporters that Romney backed an Israeli unilateral strike against Iran, a policy position that differs from current American foreign policy. Romney softened the statement shortly after in an interview with CBS News' Jan Crawford, saying he "respect[s] the right of Israel to defend itself."
"I think he has left quite a bit of doubt about his level of preparation and readiness to the President," Wasserman Shultz added.
From Israel, Romney heads to Poland before returning to the United States.
