TMZ reports that a friend called paramedics after Moore had a bad reaction after inhaling nitrous oxide. According to the website, she "lapsed into semi-consciousness" and "had symptoms of a seizure."

A rep for Moore said Tuesday that she is "seeking professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health."

The actress, 49, split from husband Ashton Kutcher in November. Sources close to the former couple told People that Moore's prescription drug use was a contributing factor in the end of their marriage.

Following her hospitalization, Moore has pulled out of her role as Gloria Steinem in the film "Lovelace."
