Demi Lovato thanks fans in post-rehab video

(CBS) Demi Lovato made her first official appearance since leaving a treatment facility in January, speaking directly to her fans in an online video.

The 18-year-old opened up about what she called "the darkest point" in her life, and thanked fans for standing by her.

"Your support is what got me through this," she said in the video, posted on Cambio.com. "The journey has been very, very difficult the past few months. I was dealing with issues that I know not only girls just my age but of all ages are dealing with."

Lovato entered treatment back in November to seek help for "emotional and physical issues."

In the video, the "Sonny with a Chance" star said she wants to help raise awareness about the issues she struggled with, "so I can help people the way you helped me during this rough time."

She did not go into detail about returning to her TV show or her music career, but did mention she's "excited to get back to work."
