Dell Computers for All of China (and Nobody Gets Canned)

Despite a hefty dose of skepticism, Dell today took the first step toward realizing the holy grail of PC revenue growth (and avoiding layoffs) -- it launched a new computer for the China market.  It's called the EC280, and it's 69 percent cheaper than anything else on the company's China product line. In a country where 90 percent of the population has yet to buy a computer and incomes are rising rapidly, the new product launch could give Dell a foothold in China. Dell's top competitor and the number one PC maker worldwide, Hewlett-Packard, is also looking to China for a top-line boost, but its year-on-year growth last quarter was less than half of Dell's.  Check out this Bloomberg article for more on the new PC and Dell's strategy for growth.
