Declutter Your Gmail Mailbox

gmail-logo.jpgRunning out of Gmail space? It happens to everyone eventually. Web Worker Daily offers four quick tips on freeing up extra space in your Gmail mailbox. For example:

Clear out the old stuff. I personally don't need any emails older than 6 months, so I did a search with the "before" operator: "before:2007/01/01″ (without the quotes, of course). I also added some "not" operators for people whose emails I don't want to delete, such as "-from:eva" so that I don't delete emails from my wife. Then I went through and deleted just about every email in the search results.
Needless to say, this little tutorial also teaches you a bit about Gmail search operators -- bonus! The author also recommends clearing out mail with large attachments, getting rid of pseudo-junk mail, and taking a hard look at the stuff you're saving and asking yourself if you really need to save it. After all, with only 2.9GB of available storage, you gotta make a few hard choices.
