Deck Care 101
More than three-quarters of homes built in the United States today have some type of wood deck.
Decks can provide loads of relaxation and fun, but they have to be maintained.
And proper maintenance gives decks longer life spans, approximately 30 years.
The Early Show's resident home improvement expert, Danny Lipford, offered pointers Tuesday on cleaning and maintaining decks.
H points out that what most people have thought about decks in the past has definitely been altered by new trends for these outdoor entertainment areas.
Not all decks look alike nowadays. Many have been redesigned to have multiple levels, extensive decorations, and personal touches from the homeowners. There are numerous ways to add a touch of personality to your deck. Lipford covers some of those, as well.
