Sears is also offering 30,500 military families an online "Wish Registry" this holiday season. It works like a bridal registry -- military families register for basic household items, and anyone in America can give a military family a gift this Christmas. Online Suicide Threats:
In November, Abraham Biggs, 19, took his life on the Internet while people watched and did nothing. Parry Aftab, of WiredTrust.com, shares some steps to take if you come across someone making a suicide threat online:
- Do a screen capture and save a copy of the Web page
- Copy the URL
- Go to the Web site's "Report Abuse" button
- When reporting the incident, paste the URL into the body or attach the screen capture document that you saved (or just tell them that you have a screen capture). Be sure to let them know what time you saw the suicide threat and what time zone you are in.
There's no better way to guarantee a gift's success than to design it specifically for the recipient. Check out a few of the many Web sites that offer that option.
