Death of Fla. mother accused of trying to drown baby

MIRAMAR, Fla. -- A woman who died after being found unconscious in her South Florida home on Tuesday has been identified as 34-year old Inakesha Brooks Armour, who earlier this year was charged with attempted murder after she reportedly tried to drown her baby, CBS Miami reports.

The exact cause of Armour's death will be determined by the Medical Examiner's Office.

On July 1, baby Cayden Armour was rushed to Joe DiMaggio hospital in Hollywood, Fla., after his mother, Inakesha Armour, allegedly threw him in a community lake and then retrieved him from the water several minutes later.

He remains in the hospital, unconscious and on a ventilator, according to police.

The baby's mother told police she was suffering from postpartum depression and hadn't been taking her medication.

Inakesha Armour was charged with two counts of attempted murder because investigators said it wasn't the first time she tried to kill her baby. A month before, she allegedly told police at the time, she had fed the baby adult cough syrup and tried to smother him with a pillow.

Armour had been released on bond on August 1.

The baby's father Conlan Armour, 30, and grandmother Grace Ann Brooks, 56, were arrested in October on charges of failure to report child abuse and child neglect in connection to the near drowning.

Police said they were both charged with child neglect "in the form of culpable negligence due to their lack of willingness to protect the baby."
