David Arquette involved in head-on car crash

(CBS/AP) David Arquette is on his way to a hospital after a car accident in West Hollywood, Calif.

Publicist Cindy Guagenti says the actor is "OK" after the Friday afternoon collision and is on his way to being treated.

A Beverly Hills Fire Department dispatcher says a head-on collision happened on Doheny Drive, just north of Santa Monica Boulevard. She could not provide details on the victims or their status. She declined to give her name.

Celebrity website TMZ reported that Arquette was in a head-on collision, and posted pictures that showed the actor lying on a patch of roadside grass next to a damaged car.

A witness told the website that Arquette's car veered into oncoming traffic while he was trying to avoid another car that stopped suddenly. The 39-year-old was reportedly driving a silver Cadillac when he swerved and went head-on into a car coming from the opposite direction.

Police say they were notified of the accident at 2:09 p.m., People magazine reports.

Fire trucks were reportedly dispatched to the scene, and Arquette, who is separated from actress Courteney Cox and recently completed rehab, was put into an ambulance.
