Danica Patrick opens up on life off the track

Danica Patrick is the one of the most well-known NASCAR drivers -- female or male -- but her life as one of the most successful women in sports history is much more multidimensional than what fans see on the track.

Patrick talked to CBS News about her work with veterans, her penchant for social media and her other fitness passion.

Patrick has partnered with Aspen Dental to provide free dental care to veterans around the country. The initiative gave more than 4,000 veterans $2.8 million dollars in free dental care in 2015.

Patrick on healthy smiles: "I've met a few people over the years that are so insecure with their own smile that they don't even smile. Aspen is literally changing people's lives and giving people something to smile about."

Patrick on social media: "The great thing about social media is that you can really show other people sides of your personality and things that you are interested in outside of your job that can then create an extension to your job. I feel like that's kind of what's happened with my healthy living, whether it is food or working out or any of those things."

Patrick on her other favorite physical activity, yoga: "It's great to have flexibility for complete physical fitness because I feel like you need endurance, strength and flexibility to complete that circle. In accidents our bodies fly into crazy far directions that you wouldn't expect it to and having that flexibility allows you to bend, not break."

Let it flow naturally and just release. In yoga and life.
