Dancing With The Stars

"DWTS" is back for its second week and my TiVo behaved this week and I enjoyed two hours of celebrities dancing. (Insert sarcasm here.)

As you know, I am not a big "DWTS" fan but towards the end of last season I came around and admitted I was a fan. This season I am starting off slow again, but maybe it just takes me a few episodes to warm up to the contestants. Either way, here is a detailed wrap up for your dancing pleasure.

First up was Apolo Anton Ohno and his partner, Julie. They are dancing the quickstep. It seemed to me that we were going to have our first major wipeout of the season (or at least I was hoping), because the floors must have been real slippery because they both were sliding all over the place.

I'm not sure if it was the art of the dance or they just played it off well. Judge Len loved it, Bruno said it was "fresh and uplifting." Scores: Len 9, Bruno 9, Carrie 8.

Former Miss USA Shandi Finnessey and her partner, Brian, are dancing the sexy mambo. Shandi kept her cool on the stage to win Miss USA but she looked really nervous tonight and a little stiff. Len said she didn't really sell it and Carrie said it was nothing special. Her days seemed numbered. Scores: Len 7, Bruno 7, Carrie 6.

Clyde and his partner Elena were up next to dance the quickstep. They were better than last week but nothing real interesting for me to report here. Scores: Len 6, Bruno 6, Carrie 6.

Leeza Gibbons and her partner, Tony, were dancing the mambo. Leeza was celebrating her 50th birthday and she looks great! Unfortunately she didn't hold up her end of the deal with the dancing. She was very technical and Bruno told her to "let the tramp out," advice for next week if she sticks around. TRAMP IT UP PEOPLE! Scores: Len 7, Bruno 7, Carrie 7.

"90210" star Ian and his partner, two-time "DWTS" champ Cheryl, rocked the quickstep. It was a good performances but the judges mention Ian was a little "skippy," and not like the peanut butter. He was jumping all around the floor like a jumping bean and it was distracting. But he wasn't terrible so he will be around for a few more weeks. Scores: Len 8, Bruno 7, Carrie 7.

Former supermodel Paulina Porizkova and her partner, Alec, were the next to hit the floor dancing the mambo. Paulina was having some trouble in rehearsals channeling her inner mambo fever. This transferred to the dance floor and Len said her dance looked "stiff and starchy" (sounds like laundry to me). Scores: Len 7, Bruno 7, Carrie 7.

Country boy and low-score getting Billy Rae Cyrus and his partner, Karina, give a poor mambo performance to match last week. Len said it looked like he "took a musical valium" — HA! Scores: Len 7, Bruno 7, Carrie 7.

My favorite and resident underdog Heather Mills and her partner, Jonathan, did a great job with the mambo. I can't help but be amazed at this woman for dancing up a storm with an artificial leg. What courage and what an inspiration she is! I am rooting for her and it seems the judges felt the same way as I did. Len said she nailed it and Bruno called her "red hot Heather." Scores: Len 8, Carrie 8, Bruno 8.

Cheers star John Ratzenberger and his partner, Edyta, danced the quickstep. They looked like they were having a great time and a lot of fun, and that's all I will say about that. Scores: Len 7, Bruno 7, Carrie 7.

Laila Ali and her partner, Maksim, dance the hottest mambo of the night. They both tore up the dance floor and are clearly one of the favorites. Len said it was the best mambo they saw tonight. Scores: Len 9, Bruno 9, Carrie 9.

Last but not least is boy bander Joey Fatone and his partner, Kym (one of my favorite pro dancers). They danced a great quickstep and look to be the frontrunners to me. They are one of my picks to make the final two. I just want to make that clear now. Scores: Len 8, Bruno 8, Carrie 8.

OK, that is it. All of last week's scores and voting will be combined with these scores and votes and the first celeb will get the boot Tuesday.
