Dallas firefighter Jesus Ventura robbed a bank and left $20 tip, prosecutors say

(CBS/AP) DALLAS - An unarmed Dallas firefighter has been accused of robbing a bank, apologizing and slipping the teller a $20 tip from the loot.

Federal prosecutors on Wednesday announced the arrest of 37-year-old Jesus Ventura for allegedly robbing a Chase Bank branch in Dallas Tuesday. He faces a federal bank robbery charge.

Ventura allegedly demanded money and apologized as the teller put cash into his backpack. Prosecutors say Ventura then took a $20 bill from the funds, gave it to the teller and said, "Here is a tip for you."

According CBS DFW, Ventura had been on administrative leave for about a month at the time of the alleged robbery after he was reportedly arrested in March for shooting a gun inside the fire station.

Dallas police arrested Ventura later Tuesday as he allegedly tried to rob a nearby business.

Officers recovered the bank money. Police did not say how much was stolen.
