D.C. rush hour shooting leaves 1 dead, i injured

WASHINGTON - One man is dead and another injured after a morning rush hour shooting in Washington, D.C., reports CBS affiliate WUSA.

D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier told reporters that the victims were adult males traveling from Virginia in a dark SUV. Just before 9 a.m., someone traveling in a car opened fire on them, killing the driver.

"We believe there was another car that was following this SUV out of Virginia, before they even entered the district," said Lanier.

Lanier said police don't currently have information on the car where the shots came from, but that since it was rush hour traffic, "there were a lot of cars out here - people had to see something."

She asked anyone who called 911 to report the incident initially to call back so police can interview them.
