Curtis Lopez, suspect in Jane McQuain slaying, arrives in Md. to face murder charges
(CBS/AP) ROCKVILLE, Md. - A suspect in the slaying of Maryland mom Jane McQuain and her son has arrived in Rockville from North Carolina to face charges.
Montgomery County police say 45-year-old Curtis Lopez, who was released from the jail in Charlotte early Wednesday, arrived in Maryland about 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday.
The bodies of McQuain, 51, and her 11-year-old son, William McQuain, were found in separate locations in Montgomery County last month.
McQuain was found dead on Oct. 12 in her condominium in Germantown, Md. about 30 miles northwest of Washington. Lopez was arrested for her slaying shortly after the body was discovered.
The discovery of the 51-year-old's body sparked a 30,000-acre manhunt for her son whose remains were found Oct. 18 in a wooded area of the county.
Lopez had waived his right to a hearing to fight extradition to Maryland. He is charged with first degree murder in Jane McQuain's death.
