(CBS News) Expect a cliffhanger on the finale of "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" Wednesday night.

The CBS series will close out season 12 with a batch of guest stars, including Craig Sheffer of "One Tree Hill" fame. Viewers will also meet D.B. Russell's (Ted Danson) wife, played by Peri Gilpin, who's known for her role as Roz Doyle on "Fraiser."

In the finale episode, titled "Homecoming," the team investigates a triple homicide that takes places blocks away from a campaign dinner.

The case soon turns personal, according to TVGuide.com, which notes that "evidence leads to one of the series' baddest guys ever: former undersheriff McKeen (Conor O'Farrell), still incarcerated for the murder of Warrick back in the day -- and no, Nick still isn't over it -- but who still has enough influence to make things ugly for those on the outside, including several members of the crime lab."

"CSI" airs Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
