Couldn't Even Be Elected Mayor?
At least one presidential competitor's campaign has polls showing that Rudi Giuliani couldn't be elected mayor again today -- such is the animosity that he left behind among African Americans, Hispanics, and many others.
Most New Yorkers, according to those polls, think current Mayor Michael Bloomberg has been a better leader overall because he implements effective policies without Giuliani's harsh temperament and abrasive disposition.
"There were some successes in New York under Giuliani, but at what cost?" says an adviser to one of his GOP rivals. "And do we want another polarizing figure in the White House?"
