EVERETT, Wash. - Police say a man awoke covered in blood to find his wife holding a running power saw cutting his neck.

According to a Snohomish County police document, police were called to a home in Everett and arrived to find the bloody man shouting at his wife, "It was you, it was you," and "You tried to cut my head off, you're going to jail."

CBS Affiliate KIRO reports the victim said that when he turned on the light, he saw his wife holding the reciprocating saw.

He also said his wife attacked him with a hatchet. According to police, the man had cuts to his upper shoulder and neck.

Authorities said that when they entered the house blood was seen on the carpet and walls, and a bloody electric reciprocating saw was on the bedroom floor.

Police said they also found a hatchet partially hidden on an upper shelf in the kitchen that was wet and appeared to have been washed, KIRO writes.

The victim's wife said she fought with an intruder who had wounded her before fleeing out of her daughter's window,

Police said they found no fresh marks on the woman, but did find dried blood on her clothes and arms that did not appear to be hers.

The interviewing officer also said the window had a child lock that prevented it from opening more than a few inches.

The woman was arrested and booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of domestic violence assault. The husband was treated at a local hospital.
