Cops search for man who escaped from police car in New York City

(CBS) -- Police are searching for a man who escaped from a police car in New York City late Monday morning,CBS affiliate WLNY reports. Police believe he may have ran into the subway.

The prisoner, who was handcuffed in the back of a police car, reportedly escaped near 141st Street and St. Nicholas Avenue in Manhattan's Harlem neighborhood shortly before 11 a.m. He had been arrested in connection with a grand larceny.

The manhunt prompted numerous subway disruptions across the city, WLNY reports.
