Fight over fried chicken ends with man choking wife, cops say

DELTONA, Fla. -- A husband allegedly choked his wife after she ate his fried chicken and criticized his cooking, reports CBS affiliate WKMG.

Police in Volusia County, Fla., ay the fight started early Sunday morning, after Desmond Brownlee's wife ate his leftover fried chicken, saved from dinner the night before.

Brownlee then attempted to cook more fried chicken, and allegedly got agitated when his wife critiqued his cooking efforts, according to WKMG.

Police say the argument turned violent, and Brownlee pushed his wife ontoa bed, striking her multiple times in the face and choking her.

The wife then called 911, but police say Brownlee took the phone away from her during the call.

When deputies arrived, Brownlee told them it was his wife who "went wild and started to slap at him," according to a police report.

Police said both Brownlee and his wife had been consuming alcoholic beverages since Saturday afternoon and found the husband to be the primary aggressor.

Brownlee, 45, is charged with felony battery and tampering with a witness in the case.
