Cops: N.M. man stabbed tiny statue, spoke in tongues - and, oh yeah, got arrested
(CBS/AP) ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Which is stranger? Stabbing a small statue, or speaking in tongues?
An Albuquerque man is facing charges after witnesses said he was doing both at the same time.
KRQE reports that 40-year-old Karim Jaekel was arrested Saturday and charged with aggravated assault following a bizarre attack close to the University of New Mexico campus.
According to police, the man entered the Peace and Justice Center near UNM with two knives. Witnesses say he was dressed in robes, spoke in tongues and stabbed a figurine he was holding.
Police said Jaekel then ran across the street into a clothing store and was arrested a short time later.
No one was injured.
It was unclear if Jaekel had an attorney...not to mention a translator.
