Cops: Man stole 2,000 rounds of ammunition from Colo. Wal-Mart

CENTENNIAL, Colo. – Authorities in Arapahoe County, Colo. are searching for a man who stole thousands of rounds of ammunition from a Wal-Mart store, reports CBS Denver.

Investigators have released surveillance video of the alleged thief in an effort to identify him.

According to the station, over 2,000 rounds of ammunition were stolen from the store in October 2013.

The suspect reportedly took 1,000 rounds of .223 caliber ammunition, 1,000 rounds of 7.62 caliber ammunition and 100 rounds of .40 caliber ammunition.

Police say surveillance video shows the man walking into the store, taking a moment to pull his hat a little further over his eyes and then making his way to the cabinet that holds the ammunition.

Once there, he is seen carefully inspecting the case and after more than a minute of browsing he opens it up. He then removes several boxes of ammunition and appears to wipe his fingerprints from the glass after closing the case.

According to CBS Denver, the man was seen driving out of the parking lot of the store in a black, two-door convertible sports car.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect in the surveillance video is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).
