Conyers Warns White House On Bolten Subpoena
House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers (D-Mich.) has warned White House officials that they have until Monday to comply with a subpoena for documents related to the firing of nine U.S. attorneys or face further congressional action.
Conyers issued the warning in a letter to White House Counsel Fred Fielding, which you can read here.
Earlier today, Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-Calif.), chairwoman of the Commercial and Administrative Law subcommittee on House Judiciary, rejected the White House claim that the documents could be withheld from the panel under an executive privilege claim, stating that White House had not properly submitted the claim or offered even cursory information so that lawmakers could determine if it was valid.
