(CBS) COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A father from Colorado Springs is in hot water for allegedly using what appeared to be pepper spray on a group of teenage boys. CBS Denver reports the man believed the boys bullied his son.

According to authorities, the man, whose name has not been released, reportedly lashed out on Sunday at a group of 13-year-old boys with what seemed to be pepper spray, and then drove away.

CBS Denver reports the boys might have assaulted the man's 8-year-old son and tried to steal his skateboard, said police.

A friend of the father told CBS Denver, "He's an upholding (sic) person. He's a very giving and caring father."  She continued, "I can see someone being upset if their child is bullied."

Authorities are not certain if the father will face charges, but misdemeanor child abuse charges are being considered, reported the station.
