Coldplay suggests next album could be "final" release

Could Coldplay be calling it quits?

Chris Martin is not ready to pack up his guitar and keyboards just yet, but the frontman did hint in a new interview that the upcoming Coldplay album could be the last one -- at least for a little while. OK, maybe.

Coldplay has been working on "A Head Full of Dreams," its seventh album and the follow-up to "Ghost Stories." And in an interview with BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe (via Consequence of Sound), Martin said, "It's our seventh thing, and the way we look at it, it's like the last 'Harry Potter' book or something like that. Not to say that there might not be another thing one day, but this is the completion of something...I have to think of it as the final thing we're doing. Otherwise we wouldn't put everything into it."

Using the words "completion" and "final" could refer to the upcoming album being the band's final effort, but perhaps Martin is just referring to how the band members are approaching the material. Coldplay fans can hope.

Meanwhile, Coldplay has much to look forward to. On Friday, the English group received a Grammy nod for best pop vocal album for "Ghost Stories."
