Code Pink To Protest At White House - To Pressure Pelosi, Reid

The anti-war group Code Pink has planned a protest outside the White House Wednesday during a much-anticipated meeting between President Bush and congressional leaders over a war-funding bill for Iraq.

But the target of this protest isn’t Bush, but rather House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.).

“The peace community will use the power of protest and creative action to urge the congressional leaders to commit to bringing the troops home by the end of the year,” their release states.

Code Pink protestors will appear with members of Iraq Veterans Against War. Visuals listed: “Women in pink, crime scene tape, Iraq veterans, GREAT PHOTOS.”

Code Pink protestors were arrested outside Pelosi’s personal office last month, the same week the House approved an initial version of the war-funding bill that included a withdrawal date and various other benchmarks for the U.S. military and Iraqi government.
