Clyburn, DeLauro Tapped As DCCC Vice Chairs

Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Chris Van Hollen of Maryland appointed Reps. James Clyburn (D-S.C.) and Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) Monday as vice-chairs of the party's campaign arm.

The two Democrats will help their endangered colleagues with fundraising, organize travel to protect some of those same vulnerable members and help collect the committee's always-important-but-often-ignored dues.

Fundraising has been easy for Democrats since claiming the majority, but their member participation has historically lagged far behind that of their Republican counterparts.

Clyburn, the majority whip and an influential member of the Congressional Black Caucus, and DeLauro, who co-chairs the powerful steering committees, both have sway with those lawmakers whose giving lags that of their colleagues.
