Ciara on baby: I feel like a little kid waiting on Christmas

Ciara on pregnancy, upcoming album 02:45

Ciara is kicking off the new year with a busy personal and professional schedule. She's not only planning a wedding and prepping for a baby with fiance Future, but the singer is also readying a new album and rehearsing for a special Grammy performance.

On Tuesday, Ciara, 28, confirmed that she’s pregnant with her first child, telling CBS News, "I'm so excited. Honestly, these are the happiest years of my life...I feel like now I'm really becoming a woman with everything that's happening...Getting prepared for something like this is so much fun. I feel like a little kid waiting on Christmas for the day I get to meet my baby. It's so beautiful and it's something I've always looked forward to."

Another thing Ciara is looking forward is the Grammy Awards on Jan. 26. The 2006 Grammy winner is performing at the official Grammy Awards after-party in Los Angeles as part of a partnership with the Grammys and Degree, a campaign that's encouraging woman to do more by testing their limits.

"The thing I love about something like this is that it's all about encouraging women to work hard, and to do more of what you love,” Ciara said. “And in this case you get to see how I work hard and how I prepare for a night like this. I do get nervous. I'm not going lie. I have those moments. I always want to make sure my performance is the best it can be every time. There's a lot of hard work that we put into it. We rehearse many days. We look over footage of rehearsals and we find ways to perfect it. It really is about putting in the hard work."

Speaking of hard work, Ciara hit the studio last fall to start production on a new album. She says a collaboration with Future is in the works, too.
