Chuck Berry to receive Rock Hall honor this fall

(CBS News) Chuck Berry will have a "particular place to go" this fall.

The singer will receive the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's American Music Classics honor on Oct. 27 in Cleveland.

Berry will attend an all-star tribute concert to accept the award and will also perform. Other performers for the 17th annual event will be announced soon.

"I'm happy to be honored by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum," Berry, 85, said in a statement on Tuesday. "I'm looking forward to reelin' and rockin' in Cleveland."

The week-long series will feature interviews, panels, films and educational programs, including a keynote lecture at Case Western Reserve University. Previous honorees include Aretha Franklin, Sam Cooke, Janis Joplin and Woody Guthrie.

Berry was inducted into the Rock Hall in 1986.

His hits include "Maybellene, "Roll Over Beethoven," "Rock and Roll Music," "Johnny B. Goode" and "No Particular Place to Go."
