Chris Klein Finishes Four Days in Jail After Second DUI Arrest
NEW YORK (CBS) Chris Klein has successfully served 96 hours behind bars on his own accord for his second drunk-driving arrest and has also complete a two month stint in a live-in rehab clinic.
The 31-year-old "American Pie" actor appeared in a Van Nuys, Calif., court on Friday where he pleaded no contest to DUI and was sentenced to four years' probation, fines and an 18-month alcohol education class.
According to People magazine, Klein told Judge David B. Gelfound, "I apologize for my wrongdoing and I really appreciate that the court gave me the opportunity to prove how seriously I took all of this."
Klein served his time in a private city jail and faced a mandatory minimum of four days in jail for the repeat offense. The actor is required to install an ignition interlock device on his automobile that will keep the engine from started if a trace of alcohol is detected on his breath.
Klein was arrested on June 16 after he was spotted going in and out of lanes with his vehicle on a Los Angeles freeway.
