Child porn charges for DC Comics illustrator after strange slip-up, say Conn. cops

AP / CBS

(CBS/AP) BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - There's nothing funny about the charges faced by DC Comics illustrator Josue Rivera.

Authorities say the 38-year-old Rivera has pleaded not guilty to possessing child pornography.

How the charges came about is rather strange.

Police said Rivera was arrested May 10 after he accidentally gave a local funeral home director a flash drive containing child pornography, instead of one that was supposed to have photographs of a deceased relative.

Authorities say Rivera, who draws under the name Justiniano, had more than 150 pictures and videos of children on his home computer.

According to the court clerk's office, Rivera entered his not guilty plea Tuesday before Connecticut Superior Court Judge George Thim to first-degree possession of child pornography, and asked for a jury trial. He's due back in court on June 8.
