Cheryl Burke Reveals She was Molested as Child, Says Report

NEW YORK (CBS) Cheryl Burke, two-time "Dancing with the Stars" champ, reveals in her new book "Dancing Lessons" that she was molested as a child, according to a report.

People Magazine reports that the professional dancer was molested by a family friend beginning when she was 5 years old. Burke, now 26, eventually testified against the retired mailman, helping to send him to prison for two decades, according to People.

"I'm telling my story," Burke told the magazine. "They're not secrets. There's no shame."

Burke said she felt "guilty" after the abuse, but recovered after the man was sent to prison and she went to therapy.

"If I can help just one person," Burke said, "for me that's all that matters."
