Chaz Bono talks with "The Talk" about "DWTS"

(CBS) Chaz Bono and his partner on "Dancing with the Stars," Lacey Schwimmer, appeared on "The Talk" to discuss the pair's performance on the dance competition show.

"You were amazing," said co-host Kris Jenner, whose son Rob Kardashian is a contestant on "Dancing with the Stars." "You were fantastic. The energy in that room was indescribable."

Later, co-host Sara Gilbert asked Bono, "When ABC announced you were on the show, there was a lot of controversy and some people said it would be confusing for children to watch you. So how do you feel about that? Do you have a response to that?"

"Not really," said Bono. "I think kids are smart and very open-minded and if you explain things to them in an open way they're usually very understanding about it."

Julie Chen asked, "When the critics came out, did it make you stronger? Did it make you say, 'You know what? I wanted to win this thing before all those critics came out but now I'm really going to kill it out there?'"

Bono motioned at Schwimmer as he answered, "Neither of us has paid attention to the critics. But the positive response we've gotten because of what the critics started has been so overwhelming that that's been really inspirational. I want to do a good job for all the people who have been so supportive of us."
