Law enforcement officials said police were called to Sheen's room at The Plaza Hotel around 2 a.m.

According to the New York Post, the "Two and a Half Men" actor was found naked in his room, which was trashed, including damage to a chandelier and hotel furniture.

Sheen, 45, told police he had been "out partying," the Post reports.

Sheen was not arrested, but checked himself in to a hospital for evaluation.

He was accompanied with ex-wife Denise Richards, 39, who was staying in a separate room.   She and Sheen are in town with their two daughters, the Post reports.

Earlier this year, Sheen was sentenced to 30 days in rehab after pleading guilty to misdemeanor assault on his wife, Brooke Mueller Sheen.
