Chaos Part III: Diaz-Balart Stews Over Spokeswoman Comment

Things have finally quieted down a bit in the House, but Rep. Lincoln Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.), who made the procedural move that forced a vote during Rep. Tom Lantos' memorial service, got in one final dig on Democrats.

Diaz-Balart, citing today's Politico blog item about the controversy, objected to the quotes from Stacey Bernards, a spokeswoman for Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md), who criticized Republicans for forcing a vote that disrupted the memorial service.

Diaz-Balart used a rare "question of personal privilege" to defend his maneuvers, saying the criticism "was totally uncalled for and unacceptable."

In a floor speech, Hoyer did not apologize, but said "I regret that the actions that precipitated this ... have occurred. They have occurred. We can't change them."

Hoyer said that both sides needed to "move forward" and set aside the various temper tantrums that led Republicans to walk out on the House floor
