Celebrity Roundup: DUIs, Sobriety And Love
The tabloid favorites were at their finest this week. Stars were hooking up, getting arrested, getting sober and dishing on their live lives. Us Weekly magazine contributing editor Katrina Szish came to The Early Show to dish on the latest gossip.
In an interview with Vogue magazine, Angelina Jolie describes how she and Brad Pitt became a couple and her brief first encounter with Pitt's ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston.
"I think at this point, Brad and Angelina are an accepted couple," Szish told The Early Show co-anchor Hannah Storm. "People respect them as a couple. They have children together. Finally, enough time has elapsed since the whole Brad and Jen split that it's now OK for her to talk about Brad as her own at this point. She feels that people have so many questions, have portrayed her as a home wrecker. Plus her role in 'The Good Shepherd' is a seductress and she wants to say she wasn't."
Szish said Pitt and Jolie's representatives said rumors that the couple will get married in December are false.
"She says we are legally bound to our children and that is enough," Szish said.
In the Vogue article, Jolie said she would like to sit down and have a discussion with Aniston and she would be very happy if Pitt and his ex could be friends.
"That would be something Jennifer would have to initiate," Szish said. "She (Jolie) wanted to say, 'Hey, I've no problem with this.' "
Since her separation from husband Kevin Federline, Spears has been partying with Paris Hilton, but recently she was spotted with music producer Jonathan "JR" Rotem.
"He also has written and produced songs for her soon-to-be ex, Kevin Federline, but some say give the guy a break. He is known as a multi-platinum creator," Szish said. "He does have street credit in the music industry. For this evening, they had an elaborate make-out session in Beverly Hills. Diners asked to be moved to other tables because it got so intense."
Lohan announced this week that she has been attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings for a year and hasn't had a drink in a week.
"We have learned that she has been in AA," Szish said. "She's trying to show us that at this point she's trying as much as she can to be serious about it. Again, she's 20 years old and it is something that's simple steps. If she's taking those steps, a week a great."
"She was arrested for a DUI, not for alcohol, but reportedly for taking vicodin and a bit of marijuana," Szish said. "She was driving her car home from a late movie, following her boyfriend and missed a turn and got on the wrong freeway entrance and her car was driving in the wrong direction and she got into trouble."
