"Cat fight": Woman 70, stabs neighbor, 75, in feud over pet

SACRAMENTO - A fight between two elderly women in Sacramento ended with one in the hospital and another behind bars on a charge of attempted murder, CBS Sacramento reported.

Police say the women had an ongoing dispute. Neighbors told the station the fight was over a cat.

On Friday, friends say they watched a 75-year old-woman wheeled out of a downtown senior living complex on a gurney, bleeding -- stabbed in the neck, they say.

Friends told the station the victim is a spiritual healer who minds her own business.

"Play bingo, have bean bag tosses and those activities," said one resident named Manny. "It is sad to go and have elderly people do something like this," he added.

Police say the victim and her 70-year-old neighbor, Barbara Holland, got into a fight in a hallway outside their apartments.

"The one that did the stabbing, I've heard her be upset and everything, but not speak above a whisper," another resident told CBS Sacramento.

Holland is in jail facing an attempted murder charge. She isn't eligible for bail.

Court records show she has no criminal history in Sacramento County.

Police say they're reviewing surveillance video. The 75-year-old woman was hospitalized in serious condition.
